Incomplete Denitrification A condition in which environmental conditions are not optimal to provide for the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen gas (some of the nitrate remains as nitrate and some undergoes partial conversion yielding concentrations of nitrite). Typically, incomplete denitrification results in high levels of nitrate in the wastewater effluent.
